Voca is an AI-powered dictation app that turns your spoken ideas into structured, polished text. Write emails, meeting notes, documentation, or quick messages - just by talking. It’s dramatically faster than typing, letting you focus on your ideas instead of formatting.
How it works
At the core of Voca are templates - personalized instructions for how your speech should be presented. Each template is built for a specific use case: standup updates, emails, feedback messages, meeting notes, quick thoughts. You speak once, and the template determines what comes out.
The process is two steps. First, your speech is transcribed - either locally, or via OpenAI’s cloud API. Then, an AI editor reshapes the transcript according to your chosen template: fixing grammar, removing filler words, structuring your thoughts into the format you need. Both steps can run entirely on your device, or use cloud APIs - your choice.
Use predefined templates or build your own. Voca allows you to provide examples of your previous work and use that to build templates which match your voice, style and format.
You’re in control
Both the transcription and editing steps are fully customizable.
For transcription, you can use OpenAI’s Whisper API - fast and accurate, costing fractions of a cent per minute. Or run it locally: Voca helps you download and select a Whisper model, and transcription becomes completely free and offline.
For AI editing, you can use OpenAI’s API at sub-cent cost, or connect any OpenAI-compatible endpoint: OpenRouter for model variety, or locally hosted AI like Ollama or LM Studio for fully offline operation.
No subscriptions, no usage limits baked into the app. You bring your own API keys and pay providers directly - or pay nothing and run everything locally.
